학과 및 교과과정 안내

교육목적

한국은 세계적으로 우수한 ICT 교육 인프라를 갖추고 있어 현장의 초?중등학교에서는 멀티미디어를 이용한 영어교육의 필요성이 증대되었다. 따라서 초?중고교 교사들의 멀티미디어 영어교육에 관한 역량을 갖추고 특화하기 위한 교육을 목적으로 한다.

교과목해설

영어학, 영어교육, 멀티미디어 영어교육을 근간으로 하여 초중등학교 현장 영어교사나 사교육기관에서 영어교육을 담당하고 있거나 향후 교사가 되는데 필요한 멀티미디어 영어교육전문 지식을 배울 수 있도록 한다.

WMT1001 TEFL이론과교수법입문(Introduction to TEFL Theories and Methodologies) ntroduction to TEFL Theories and Methodologies will include at least 5 hours of instruction on the aspect of language teaching methodology aligned with technology (i.e., Multimedia-assisted CLT methodology)

WMT1002 구두언어지도를위한교수문법(Pedagogical Grammar for Oral Skills) edagogical Grammar for Oral Skills will also include at least 10 hours of instruction on the aspect of teaching grammar with technology (i.e., CD-ROM grammar and websites)

WMT1003 회화지도(Teaching Oral Skills) Teaching of Oral Skills will be composed of 20 hours of traditional teaching of L/S skills and 25 hours of the teaching of L/S skills with software and Internet.

WMT1004 읽기지도(Teaching Reading Skills) Teaching of Reading Skills will be composed of 20 hours of traditional teaching of reading skill and 25 hours of the teaching of reading with software and internet.

WMT1005 멀티미디어언어학습입문(Overview of Multimedia-assisted Teaching and Learning) The course is designed to provide trainee teachers with hands-on experience with both the technology and the art of teaching English as a foreign language (K-12, adult). Thus, the prime objective is to learn about technology and CALL materials by completing a number of tasks and projects that apply what they have read about in the course books and articles assigned. Trainee Teachers review current CALL research and discuss the effectiveness of technological media for various classroom settings and contexts. Students construct projects relevant to their particular teaching context. Assessment is based on collaborative and individual projects as well as interaction. Requirements: Access to and familiarity with Windows (Win98 or higher), basic file management, Internet navigation, e-mail, and word processing. Students need Word and PowerPoint (latest versions) and must be able to store large files (e.g. Zip, CD, Flash drive, etc.)

WMT1006 온라인영어학습법(Online Beginning Internet Activities for EFL) This 45 hour course is designed to help trainee teachers learn how to develop and use the Internet in their classes either as bridging activities (like homework, but beyond fill in the blank), as class projects or even in the computer lab as a class activity. They will learn what is available on the Internet that they can use in class, how to find information, how to incorporate these ideas into class activities, how to make their own activities and they will also develop their own website where they can post assignment.

WMT1007 영어개론(English Language) Prose style analysis is the focus of this course. We will practice a variety of close reading strategies of literature and essay. We will look at the construction of idea/theme/motif and how that construction creates meaning. We never get away from the intent of the author. What we will do is examine how the author develops meaning through style. Many models of prose style analysis will be shared and the institute will be very hands-on. The participant will take away from the week of discussion and writing specific strategies and selections that you can use in your classroom in September. You will also be given strategies on helping your students take a stand on an issue. Writers and works that we will certainly discuss will be selections from Sandra Cisneros' House on Mango Street, Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon, Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God, Ken Kesey's One Flew Over Cuckoo's Nest and Barbara Kingsolver's Animal Dreams. We will discuss the stylistic choices these writers make and the strategies we need to use in our classrooms to help our students understand the study of language.

WMT1008 학술문쓰기및문법(Writing and Grammar in Academic Contexts) This course focuses on writing with grammatical accuracy in order to produce academic papers. The course provides instruction on short texts including extended definitions, introductions and data commentary; grammatical focus is on article usage, tense choice, transition words, and relative clauses. Classroom activities include individual and small group writing exercises. Students may also meet in small groups for self- and peer editing; individual conferences with the instructor may also be scheduled.

WMT1009 언어와커뮤니케이션(Language and Communication) This course focuses on the communication skills needed to interact with native speakers primarily in academic contexts. By leading and participating in impromptu classroom discussions and formal presentations, and conducting informal interviews with native speakers of English, students learn the language and discourse strategies needed to ask and respond to questions, to express and elicit opinions, to respond to opposing viewpoints, and to maintain interactions.

WMT1010 언어교육실습(Community Service and Language, Education) The overall theme of this service-learning course is "Language and Community," with three modules. A service-learning approach enables students to prepare for and reflect on their experiential practice in a local EFL classroom or tutoring program.

WMT1011 제2언어교육론(EDU 500 Second Language Teaching and Learning) The purpose of this introductory course is to provide an overview of the field of second language teaching and learning, to identify major trends and issues, and to show where they have come from, to illustrate, in practical ways, how these emerging ideas can be incorporated into the students' own teaching practice, and to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge that will enable them to benefit fully from the rest of the course.

WMT1012 언어교사용담화론(EDU 530 Discourse Analysis for Language Teachers) This course is intended as an accessible introduction to the key concepts of discourse and discourse analysis. It also introduces techniques for teaching discourse in the classroom. Topics covered include the nature of spoken and written discourse, cohesion and coherence, speech act theory, rhetorical analysis, discourse and syntax, discourse in the classroom.

WMT1013 교실운영및관찰(EDU 550 Classroom Management and Observation) This course focuses on central issues and concerns relating to the effective management of teaching and learning processes in second and foreign language classrooms. In this course management does not mean the creation of budgets and the creation of time lines, but the creation of a positive pedagogical environment which facilitates learning. The focus of the course is on the professional decisions that teachers must make in order to ensure that learning takes place effectively. Content will include lesson planning; teacher talk, including the effective use of questions, the provision of explanations and the use of feedback; classroom dynamics; instructional groups, small group work, dealing with large classes, one-to-one teaching, and learner-teacher roles; affective issues in the language classroom; and classroom monitoring and evaluation.

WMT1014 제2언어연구(EDU 560 Second Language Classroom Research) This course is intended as an accessible introduction to the field of second language classroom research. It covers both methodological and substantive issues. At the end of the course, you should have a good idea of the questions and issues that have been investigated in language classroom, and how they have been investigated. You should also have developed practical skills for investigating your own classrooms.

WMT1015 교실수업평가(EDU 570 Classroom-Based Evaluation) The aim of this course is to introduce students to classroom-based evaluation. This is a critically important area for all those involved in curriculum development, program management, and, in fact, any area of educational leadership. The overall goal of the courses is to give students the skills in the design and evaluation of a program of the student's choice

WMT1016 제2언어교육과정및자료개발(EDU 580 Second Language Curriculum Development) The purpose of this course is to provide teachers with tools and techniques for analyzing, modifying and developing courses for language teaching. Students will look at issues to do with selecting and grading content, selecting, sequencing and integrating learning tasks and activities, and selecting assessment tools and techniques. Students taking part in this course must attend a four- day residential session in addition to attending eight online classes.
